Sold a Story: How Teaching Kids to Read Went So Wrong

There's an idea about how children learn to read that's held sway in schools for more than a generation — even though it was proven wrong by cognitive scientists decades ago. Teaching methods based on this idea can make it harder for children to learn how to read. We can't stress how important and beneficial connecting with others in our learning communities are.  Reach out to the Facebook groups listed on the Where to Begin page.  Ask questions- you will get answers!  Search for a topic and you will find previous threads. Create a smaller network with other colleagues when possible.  Having others to bounce ideas off of is invaluable.
